How I teach
One-to-one and two-to-one only, never group classes. Your programme is built entirely around you, shaped to your body, your goals and how you feel on the day, and adjusted as you grow stronger. You are guided through each movement so that you work the right muscles, safely and well. That personal attention is what makes one-to-one work, and what clients tell me they value most.
The work progresses as a single continuous thread, so it compounds week by week toward lasting strength and function, taught across the full studio apparatus in a calm, private studio.
STOTT PILATES® comprehensively certified, with over ten years’ teaching experience and ongoing study in the classical tradition. A limited number of clients are taken on, so each one is taught properly.
About Angelina
Like many of the women I now teach, I did not come from a background in dance, sport or fitness. For years I was a corporate executive. I loved my work, but in time my health paid the price.
I had pushed my body hard for a long time. I was over-exercising, and eventually it caught up with me. The strain took a serious toll on my back, until I could no longer carry on as I had. I was seeing specialists five times a week and spending thousands on treatment, and still I suffered. In the end I stepped away from my career to give my body the chance to heal.
Rather than rely on rest and hospital visits alone, I made a conscious decision to take charge of my own health. That was when I found Pilates, and for the first time something genuinely helped.
The difficulty was that I could not find quality Pilates teaching near me. So I made a choice that surprised even me: I would learn it properly myself, not to teach, but simply to mend my own back. I trained at one of the finest schools there is, certified at every level, including the work with injury and special populations.
And it worked. Patiently and intelligently, Pilates rebuilt me.
I never set out to teach. But when I saw the same suffering in people I love, I knew I could not keep what I had learned to myself. I wanted to reach the woman I had once been, and to spare other women the years, the cost and the heartache I went through. That is how Angelina Cheng Pilates began.
So if you are reading this and wondering whether Pilates is for someone like you, please hear me. I was a beginner once, too, with no special background in any of this. You do not need to arrive strong, flexible or fit. You only need to begin.
